Salvation: How to Know God

STEP 1 God’s Purpose: Peace and Life

God loves you and wants you to experience peace and life – abundant and eternal. The Bible says…

“…we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“…I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Since God planned for us to have peace and the abundant life right now, why are most people not having this experience?

The Bible – it’s like the game of telephone!

Translation vs. Transmission

Objection: You can't trust the bible because it's been translated so many times.

There are those that will argue that you can’t trust the Bible because it’s been translated so many times. The idea is like the game of telephone you played in grade school – someone whispers something in your ear, you whisper it to the next person, and so on. By the time it gets around the room the last person gets up and says something that is totally incomprehensible to what was originally said and everyone laughs. So the conclusion is that we can’t trust the Bible because of the same problems.

Gospel of Judas… it’s like, so scary.

Just thought I'd post a little something on the gospel of Judas since it's in all the news and what not.

The news makers seem to think that this will be the final magic bullet that can challenge and maybe destroy Christianity.

I've read the gospel (it's only about 7 pages long, very disjointed and it's missing a LOT of stuff) and it's just generally goofy like most gnostic gospels.

I will try and post an article this week letting you know exactly what gnosticism is and why it was rejected by the early church.

Witnessing Tip: Is there one Mediator or Many?

Comparing 1 Timothy 2:5 & 1 Peter 2:5
Recently Roman Catholic apologists have introduced a new argument defending prayers to the saints.

Evangelicals condemn prayers to the saints by quoting 1 Timothy 2:5 which says

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (NKJV)

The new Catholic counter argument to this verse goes something like:

“Being a mediator simply means that you approach God on behalf of another person. If this verse prohibits anyone else from acting as mediator, then what about Romans 15:30, Colossians 4:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:25, Ephesians 6:18-19, and 2 Thessalonians 3:1, etc where Paul asks others to pray for him? What if your Pastor asks YOU to pray for him? Or to pray for a fellow Christian? Would you then be violating 1 Timothy 2:5?”

Another missing link: $2.50 / lb

Joseph Farah had an excellent article about the latest “missing link”.

In the article he compares the newly discovered “Tiktaalik” with the “Coelacanth”. The coelacanth was said to be a 350 million year old fossil, but unfortunately they were being sold in fish markets. That’s funny.

My favorite line is “The Tiktaalik is no more a missing link between sea life and land life than a Tic Tac is a missing link between a Lifesaver and an Altoid.”

Ted Byfield in a related article suggests that maybe the tiktaalik is just another species that we haven’t discovered yet.

The question I’ve always had is: Okay, a little guy is swimming around in the primordial soup (forget how he got there, he’s just there ok?), and he adapts. He fights his way to land, grows legs (randomly), grows lungs for air (randomly) and he crawls onto land and what does he find? He finds someone to mate with. Humm, so you’re telling me that he underwent a bunch of random changes and finds a woman that underwent the exact same random changes so that they were compatible enough that they could mate?

Verrry Interesting.

Different kinds of things cannot reproduce. A wolf and a cocker spaniel can reproduce because they’re both a dog kind. A dog and a cat cannot reproduce because they’re different kinds. A llama and a camel can reproduce because they’re both… umm whatever kind a camel is – they’re both of the, I guess, goofy kind.
